STROBE Study
Do you experience binge eating? Is your eating out of control?
About the Study
We are studying intranasal oxytocin as a potential therapeutic in adults with binge-eating disorder. Oxytocin is a naturally-occurring hormone in the body that may reduce food intake via homeostatic and reward pathways in the brain. Our research investigates whether oxytocin reduces instances of binge eating.
Binge-eating disorder is the most common eating disorder in the United States, affecting thousands of people each year. Binge-eating disorder often leads to obesity-associated medical problems and mental health concerns, yet few effective treatments have been found. This research will help develop interventions and treatments for individuals who struggle with this disorder.
